Janet Johnstone School is having our second annual Family Cultural Night!

DATE: Thursday, April 11, 2024

LOCATION: JJ gym

TIME: 5:30-7:30pm

Students (with the help of their parents) have the opportunity to participate and represent their culture by bringing food, artifacts, decorations and clothing. Please note- bringing food is NOT an expectation, however, food was a large part of the event’s success last year.  Families are welcome to bring their favorite cultural food for others to taste test.  Small, bite sized portions worked really well last year.

Our intent is to collect all the information from the people who want to participate so that we know how many cultures and participants to expect. Each culture will be assigned a “booth” to set up with food, clothing, artifacts and decorations. The school cultural committee will assist with designating areas in the gym for the various cultures to set up. Those families representing the same culture will be grouped together.

If you would like your child or family to perform a cultural dance, please let us know.  We will start a performance schedule.  Performers can use the stage in the gym while families mingle through the booths.

PLEASE CLICK ON THE LINK TO COMPLETE THE SIGN UP FOR A BOOTH AND/OR PERFORMANCE!

ALL families are welcome to attend and circulate the booths- there will be lots to learn about the families that we share a learning community with.

We are better together.
