Janet Johnstone School is having a Family Cultural Night!
We would like to invite you to join us for Family Cultural Night on Thursday, April 17 from 6:00pm-8:00pm.
We would like to learn about our family's cultures and get below the "cultural iceberg". Our big question is: "How do you connect to your culture?"
What is Family Cultural Night?
Families have the opportunity to participate and represent their culture/country by bringing food, artefacts, decorations or clothing. As this event is a mosaic of cultures being represented, and often celebrations are associated with special food and meals, our hope is that each family will bring some type of food to share with the other families; for example: finger food, samples, dessert, candy, beverages, etc.
Our intent is to collect all the information from the families who want to participate so that we know how many cultures and participants to expect. Each family will be assigned a “booth” to display food, clothing, artefacts and decorations. Those families representing the same culture will be grouped together.
If you would like your child or family to perform a cultural dance, please let us know. We will create a performance schedule once we have several expressions of interest in performing. Performers will use the stage in the gym while families mingle through the booths.
If you would like to participate: please take the time to complete the form using the link below.

We are looking forward to learning more about the families in our community! This is an optional event so please do not feel that your family has to sign up. We welcome all families to attend, even if you’re not hosting a booth.
