Thank You JJSC and FJJSA Members!!!

We had our final meetings this week and we would like to take this opportunity to say THANK YOU and MERCI to all of the parents and guardians who have given their time and energy to be part of our School Council and Fundraising Association. Your commitment to our school impacts the experiences of all of our students and because of you we have been able to provide so many excellent learning opportunities.

JJSC and FJJSA meet once a month on a Tuesday evening, usually the second Tuesday of the month. There will be some open positions on JJSC and FJJSA for next year. See the information below about how you can get involved!

Class Size Reduction Grant

We are pleased to inform you that our school has been allocated 2 additional teaching positions for the 2026–27 school year through the Government of Alberta’s Class Size Reduction Grant.

This grant funds teaching positions that support improved learning conditions in kindergarten to Grade 9 classrooms.

This funding is specifically intended to help reduce class sizes in core subject areas (English Language Arts/French Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies), with priority given to schools experiencing the greatest class size pressures.

This decision was made using system-wide data that considers:

The number of classes exceeding provincial class size benchmarks

Projected enrolment and class organization

School programming and grade configuration

Our goal is to ensure students benefit from:

Increased teacher attention

Improved classroom learning environments

Greater support for diverse learning needs

We remain committed to supporting strong learning environments for all students and using our resources thoughtfully and strategically.

Readers and Leaders

The Readers and Leaders program for all grade 3 students finished this week with a visit from the Calgary Public Library Book Truck, a 911 Operator and some outdoor games. We would like to thank the Calgary Public Library and First Responders for providing this engaging program for our grade 3s.

Did you know that library cards are free and there is so much to do at our public libraries? Check out the summer programs here: CPL and the Summer Reading Challenge! Summer

The following positions will be open:

School Council plays an important role in supporting students, staff, and school initiatives. Whether you can contribute a little or a lot, your ideas, perspectives, and participation are valued.

If you are interested in learning more about any of these roles, please email the School Council at jjsc.fjjsa@gmail.com for additional information. We look forward to welcoming new members and continuing to build a strong school community together.

CELEBRATING ANOTHER GREAT YEAR AT JJ!

Every student will receive a custom JJ’s T-shirt featuring the current school year and space for signatures from friends, classmates, and teachers—a fun keepsake to remember the year.

Shirts will be distributed soon, giving students time to collect signatures and celebrate together before summer break.

School Council (FJJSA) is providing a shirt for every student. Families are invited to contribute toward the approximately $10 cost per shirt, and those who are able may choose to sponsor an additional shirt for another student.

Payments can only be made online through the Zeffy link below. Please do not send cash or cheques to the school.
