Message From School Council Chair

Hello Janet Johnstone Families,

As the school year comes to an end it would be a perfect time to show the teachers and staff how thankful we are for all that they do for our kiddos and for us and what better way to do that but by filling their belly's with a potluck lunch.

Please see the sign up if you would like to help out at all.  For those that sign up to bring food please label any dishes or serving utensils you bring in so we can make sure we get those back to you and also putting a label on the cover of foods "Staff Luncheon" so it does not get missed.  If we can have these items brought to the school for Monday June 23rd before 10:30am that would be wonderful.

Thank you everyone for your support and I hope you all have a great summer!!!!

Thanks

Lyanne Vlodarchyk

Chair for the Janet Johnstone School Council

Grade 4 Farewell Volunteers Needed!

We’re looking for volunteers to help with the Grade 4 Farewell celebration! To allow Grade 4 parents the chance to relax and enjoy this special milestone with their kids, we encourage parents from other grades to lend a hand. Your support will make the event extra memorable and much smoother for everyone involved!

Casino Fundraiser October 20-21

Our biggest and most profitable fundraiser of the year is coming up on October 20 and 21 at the Deerfoot Inn and Casino and we need your help! We're looking for volunteers to fill casino shifts, and the impact is huge: each volunteer earns approximately $200 per hour for the school. These funds go directly toward in-school experiences, new technology, field trips, and so much more. If you’re not able to help with other fundraisers throughout the year, this is the one that really counts. No experience needed - just your time and support to make a big difference for our students!

EverActive Schools Update

Earlier this school year, we worked with EverActive Schools to do a traffic audit and to gather information about travel to school. Recommendations to make drop off and pick up safer were made to CBE and the City of Calgary. We are excited to share that project has been approved! We will be getting an additional Hug and Go zone on Shannon Close behind the school bus zone. We are not sure when this work will be begin but we hope it will help families travel to and from school safely and easily.

EverActive Banner Contest

This spring some grade 4 students participated in a safe travel club with Mme Lina. Students designed posters about safe travel. The 3 finalists were Frotan K., Liam C. and Lora W. Frotan's poster is on our website homepage and Liam and Lora's posters were made into banners that can be seen at the front of the school.
