Inline Skating - June 3 to 19

All students will participate in inline skating lessons in our school gym led by amazing instructors from Alien Inline Skating! Please help your child be prepared:

-dress in comfortable clothes (no dresses or skirts)

-wear socks

-bring a CSA approved helmet (label with your child's name)

*Alien Inline has some helmets to lend but it is preferred that students bring their own.

*Other safety equipment with be provided (kneepads, elbow pads, wrist guards)

Active Travel Week - June 2 to 6

Active Travel Week is Here JJ!

Join us in celebrating Active Travel Week by choosing an active route to school—bike, board, or walk! Active week is a great opportunity for students to learn about ways they can travel to and from school that gets them moving. Each day you participate, you’ll earn a raffle ticket for a chance to win great prizes that will help you stay active.  So what are you waiting for? Let’s get moving, stay healthy, and help the environment—one active step at a time!

No Helmet, No Bike

Did you know that it is the law for all children under the age of 18 to wear a helmet when they are riding a bike? Here is a link to the law and bike safety tips from the Alberta Government: Alberta Bike Helmet Law .

We strongly encourage kids to wear a helmet when skateboarding, scootering and rollerblading too!

Active Transportation Survey

Our friends at EverActive Schools have worked with us on safe transportation and traffic safety. They would like our families to complete a short survey here: Survey

Picnic Lunch!

On nice days, lunchroom supervisors may bring the students outside for a picnic lunch. They will stay in their grades, eat together, clean up and then go play. Students will be supervised as they are when they eat inside.

Safety Drills

On Tuesday, we had our 5th fire drill of the year. This drill was the best one so far! Students and adults exited the building safely and quietly and teachers accounted for all of the students very quickly. We will have 1 more fire drill before the end of the school year.

Playground Walk-A-Thon Fundraiser - Saturday, June 7

Hello JJ Family!

The playground walk-a-thon fundraiser is just over a week away and we hope you are as excited for this fun event as we are! We hope that your fundraising efforts are on their way and that you have been able to take advantage of this amazing spring weather and get outside and be active! 

Please remember that the walk is on Saturday June 7th at 10am (rain or shine) and we will be meeting on the field next to the school playground. If you have raised money but will no longer be able to attend the event please make sure to reach out to the playground committee at fjjsaplayground@gmail.com so we can coordinate with you.

As mentioned, we will have snacks and refreshments by donation so bring a toonie or two.
