National Indigenous Peoples Day and Our Commitment to Truth and Reconciliation
National Indigenous Peoples Day is on June 21.
National Indigenous Peoples Day takes place on the summer solstice, the longest day of the year. For generations, many First Nations, Inuit, and Métis communities have celebrated their cultures, languages, and traditions at this time of year. The summer solstice holds deep spiritual and cultural significance for many Indigenous Peoples, marking a time of renewal, connection, and celebration. Throughout the school year, we find meaningful ways to foster a sense of belonging and connection for Indigenous students and all JJ students. We design learning activities for students to learn from the land and the stories of Indigenous people from all over Canada.
We are proud to share our Commitment to Truth and Reconciliation for the 2025 - 2026 school year. It can be found here: TRC 2025 - 2026
