Metis Week:

The week surrounding November 16 is Metis Week. Today at our assembly, Mrs. Paul and the music helpers shared some important things about Metis people in Alberta. We listened to some Metis fiddle music, saw some pictures of Metis art and watched some people dancing the jig. We also learned about the importance and uses of the Metis sash! Next week, classes will learn more about Metis people in Alberta, past and present. If you want to learn more, check out this resource: Metis Week

TREX:

We are so lucky to have a special art exhibit at JJ! The Alberta Foundation for the Arts Travelling Exhibition (TREX) will be at our school until December 11. The exhibit is called Storytelling and features the art of Metis and Indigenous artists who are connected to Northwest Alberta. Teachers will be using the art for a variety of learning opportunities. Parents will be able to see the beautiful artwork when they come for Conferences on November 28 or 29.

Bullying Awareness Week is Next Week:

At JJ we will focus on supporting students to have healthy relationships and to get help from adults if they need it. Here is more information: Bullying Awareness Week .

Child and Youth Well-Being Family and Caregiver Series:

Next week there are 2 opportunities for caregivers to participate in live sessions about healthy relationships and resiliency. There are also pre-recorded sessions. Information can be found here: Well-Being Sessions
