Remembrance Day

Each year on November 11, we take the time to honour those who gave their lives to serve their country. Next week at JJ teachers will be sharing age-appropriate information with their classes about Remembrance Day and Canada's role in peacekeeping in the past and present.

Family members are invited to a Remembrance Day assembly on Friday, November 7 at 10:00AM in our school gym led by Mrs. Paul and the students in grade 3 French Immersion. Students who belong to Scouts, Girl Guides or Cadets are welcome to wear their uniforms as they represent organizations that have contributed to Canada's war efforts in the past.

Students will be given a poppy to wear for the ceremony and we will collect cash donations for the Poppy Fund. Donations can be made online here: Poppy Fund

Learning Will Continue

Janet Johnstone teachers are happy to be back at school with their students and grateful to our support staff for the work they did at the school while teachers were away. We want to assure parents and guardians that our teachers are working together to plan learning activities that take into account what the students have learned so far and expectations for the curriculum of their grade level. CBE will share some adjustments to reporting and assessment dates when they are determined.

Welcome Back Practicum Students!

Next week we will be welcoming back some 3rd year Education students from Mount Royal University. They will be working with some of our teachers until early December. We also have student teachers from the University of Calgary and French Immersion from the Campus St. Jean of the University of Alberta at different times in the school year. Our teachers are pleased to be able to support these students to prepare for their teaching careers.
