Safety:

It is getting darker in the morning and we will soon have icy conditions. It is very important to us at Janet Johnstone School that our students know how to come to school safely.

At this week's assembly, Mrs. Paul led students in an interactive game about coming to school safely in the morning. Here is a list of safety tips that were shared with the students:

·      Look both ways when crossing the parking lot or the street.

·       Do not walk through the parking lot.

·       Cross the street at a corner or crosswalk, not between cars or in the middle of the road.

·       POINT, PAUSE, PROCEED (put your arm out so drivers know you are crossing, look both ways and make eye contact with the driver, cross carefully).

·       If you use the Drop and Go, parents must stay in their cars, say goodbye to their children and then move ahead so others can use the Drop and Go.

Teachers will take their classes outside and practice crossing the street safely next week. We appreciate the support of parents/guardians in reinforcing these safety rules!

Toys at School:

We would like to remind caregivers that students are asked to leave toys and valuable personal items at home. This includes trading cards.

School Dance:

We are pleased to share that enough volunteers have been found to be able to have a Halloween Dance on Thursday, October 24! Stay tuned for information about ticket sales. Thank you School Council and volunteers!
