Diversity is Our Strength and Learning About Each Other Helps Us Connect!
International Mother Language Day:
At Janet Johnstone, our school community is diverse and we love to learn from each other. Did you know that at least 38 languages are spoken by Janet Johnstone families? Friday, February 21 is International Mother Language Day. There are so many benefits of learning languages. Here is information about why it is important to keep your home language alive.
Family Cultural Night:
We are excited to invite our school community to Family Cultural Night on Thursday, April 17. See the details here: Invitation
Dates of Significance:
Janet Johnstone School and the CBE are committed to building a culture of appreciation and inclusion, where students and staff can see themselves valued, respected and celebrated. This calendar identifies many important dates that are recognized by members of our community: Dates of Significance . If you would like to share about your family's celebration, please contact your child's teacher.
CUPE Strike:
All families should have received an email from CBE on February 19 about the strike that will start next week. All schools will remain open and school hours will stay the same. Up-to-date information can be found here: Labour Action
Spring Concerts:
Mrs. Paul is working hard with grades 1 to 4 to prepare for their Spring Concerts. With the CUPE strike, we are not sure if we will be able to have evening shows the weeks of March 3 and March 10. As soon as we have a plan, we will let families know.
