Halloween at JJ

We will celebrate Halloween on Friday, October 30. Students are welcome to wear a costume or their pajamas on that day (AM kindergarten students can wear their costumes or pajamas on Thursday, October 29). Teachers will plan Halloween-related learning activities for their classes and students will be able to show their costumes to their Family Groups.

Children who wear costumes must be able to participate in all activities comfortably (no inflatables). Please make sure that your child's costume is not too scary or gory and leave masks and weapons at home.

At school we do not share food so we can protect children with allergies. Please do not send Halloween candy to school.

Thank You Volunteers!

This week we had many family members volunteering for various activities at the school. Thank you to you all for:

  • helping out at picture day
  • organizing fundraisers
  • attending School Council meetings
  • organizing and helping at Family Movie Night
  • working in the library
  • helping with Healthy Hunger!!!

Special Visitors at JJ

This week we welcomed MLA for Calgary Shaw Kyle Campbell, Calgary Board of Education Trustee Nancy Close and CBE Education Director Kenny Yeung to Janet Johnstone School.

A big thank you to our grade 4 greeters, Ms. Knoke's class, grade 3 singers and everyone who showed our guests how amazing our school is!

Dressing for the Weather and Taking Care of Our School

Calgary's weather can change drastically! Sometimes it's hoody weather in the morning and winter parka weather in the afternoon. Please make sure your children are dressed for the weather so they can play outside comfortably.

Students are asked to remove their outdoor shoes when they come into the school to keep our floors dry and to help our amazing caretaking staff. Please make sure that your children have indoor shoes at school.
